TOWN OF TAOS

Today, Taos remains true to its roots: we’re a small, sophisticated multicultural community combining traditional ways with progressive ideas. Our historic haciendas and trading posts now house an intriguing mix of shops, restaurants, and art galleries. We offer world class outdoor activities in our “living room” -- the magnificent high desert country bounded on one side by the Rio Grande Gorge and on the other by the rugged peaks of the Sangre de Cristos.

And we’re all about indulging your senses, too! From our relaxing and rejuvenating spa experiences to a balloon ride at sunrise over the Rio Grande Gorge; from spending time in our unique galleries and shops where you’ll often find the artists at work to gourmet culinary experiences that tempt you to savor our unique twist on regional and international dishes, there’s no place on earth quite like Taos.

History? From the 1,000 year old sacred Taos Pueblo to the Hispanic heritage that informs everything from our architecture to our customs; to the Old West embodied in our stories of Kit Carson and Governor Bent to the birthplace of the Western Art movement in the early 1900's, everything is authentic and waiting for you to experience.
