Eagle Nest

This nature lover’s paradise is situated on the north shore of majestic Eagle Nest Lake State Park. As the gateway to northern New Mexico’s Enchanted Circle, Eagle Nest has easy access to the beauty of the Colin Neblett Federal Wildlife Area in nearby Cimarron Canyon.

Eagle Nest is surrounded by the abandoned dreams of gold and silver miners on their way to the California gold rush. Numerous mines on the west face of Baldy Mountain supported boom towns. The remains of the Klondike Mine processing mill are still visible today from the community of Idlewild. The scenery of the surrounding Sangre de Cristo mountain range offers artists and photographers an abundance of opportunities to capture the area’s dramatic natural settings.
